An alternative energy facility may follow this step-by-step guide for qualification in the AEPS Program.

Install an alternative energy facility
STEP 2
Qualify
Submit an application through the PennAEPS website to receive a certification number for generating AECs
STEP 3
Register
Register an account with PJM-GATS and provide the facility’s certification number
STEP 4
Report
Enter monthly generation data into PJM-GATS to create AECs. For every 1,000 kWhrs generated, one AEC is created
STEP 5
Sell
(optional)
Select among participating brokers or aggregators to transfer or sell AECS
Alternative energy facilities begin accumulating AECs on the date a fully completed application is submitted through the PennAEPS portal. Applications cannot be accepted prior to the facility becoming operational or receiving permission to operate from the utility.
The Program Administrator conducts random inspections on qualified facilities to verify that the information provided to the Program Administrator and the meter readings provided to PJM-GATS is accurate. For questions regarding a facility inspection, please contact the Program Administrator.
