Welcome to the Pennsylvania AEPS Program!

The Pennsylvania Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act of 2004 (AEPS) requires electric distribution companies (EDCs) and electric generation suppliers (EGSs) to obtain a percentage of the electricity they provide to Pennsylvania customers from qualified alternative energy resources. Compliance is demonstrated through the retirement of Alternative Energy Credits (AECs) generated by certified alternative energy systems.

The PennAEPS website serves as the platform for the application and certification of alternative energy facilities eligible under the Pennsylvania AEPS Program.

Learn more about the AEPS act here.

What types of facilities may qualify?

Alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, biologically derived methane gas, and demand-side management resources may qualify.

Facilities may be certified under Tier I or Tier II types of certification, depending on the technology and eligibility criteria. Learn more about program qualification here.
